HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE WANG!!!! WE All LOVE YOU <3
Right now, it’s 12am on August 7th, 2012. Today is a special day because it's the birthday of Uncle Wang. Soon after the arrival of August 7th, we surprised him with two exquisite birthday cake decorated with prince and princess shaped chocolates. We all chanted the Happy Birthday song as Uncle Wang made his birthday wish and blew the candles with one strong breath. Then he cut the frozen ice cream cake for everyone to enjoy. We cheered, we sang, we hugged, we toasted, we talked and some of us even cried out of joy. We are all touched by those beautiful moments. It is an unforgettable night that we will treasure forever.
There planning stage of this birthday surprise is a story on its own. It all started on a bus ride, when we found out Uncle Wang’s birthday is during this course. After some smart investigation, we found out that his birthday is on August 7th and decided to throw him a surprise birthday party. On the evening before the big day, we had a very packed schedule. During the bus ride to the Grand Canal and Nan Xia Tang street we were all worried whether if we could find a cake store in this foreign city. Perhaps odds were in our favour that evening, we were fortunate enough to find a Haagen Das store in this stunning and ancient neighbourhood near the canal. Our initial plan was to celebrate his birthday back at the hotel, so we refrigerated the ice cream cake in driver’s home near the hotel. However, there was a change of plan as our group sat down at the patio of a bar on the canal bank, so we had the celebration there instead. The delicious cakes fruits and drinks complimented the beautiful night by the water. The celebration turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After we returned to the hotel, we decided pull an all-nighter and sing Karaoke. The songs and music accompanied us till morning.
The group grabbed a quick breakfast at the train station and boarded the train for Wuhan. It was early afternoon when we finally reached our destination. We rushed to the Hubei Provincial Museum and managed to make it before the entrance gate closes. We view many astonishing collection of ancient Chinese relics, including the Sword of Goujian, an ancient set of bronze bells and artifacts from the Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng. It was a long yet memorable day.
